Farhan, Danish to clash in National Senior Squash Championship final

Former World No. 14 and top rank Farhan Mehboob of Wapda and unseeded Danish Atlas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took berth into the final of the National Senior Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd May, 2019 ) :Former World No. 14 and top rank Farhan Mehboob of Wapda and unseeded Danish Atlas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took berth into the final of the National Senior Squash Championship being played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday.

The final of the Championship will be played on Saturday with Farhan of Pakistan Wapda to face Danish Atlas, a former World No. 66.

Earlier, Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation Qamar Zaman, Head Coach of PAF Squash academy Atlas khan, Member Executive Committee and head coach of Blue Tone Squash Academy Wazir Gul, officials and players were also present and witnessed the two thrilling semi-finals.

In the first semi-final Pakistan top ranking player Farhan Mehboob recorded a one-sided victory against his younger brother Waqas Mehboob in just 34 minute play. Lefty Farhan Mehboob played outstanding game and succeeded in creating a panic like situation in the rank of Waqas Mehboob of PAF with his super-nick and forceful smashes.

His drops shorts were a treat to watch as he fully utilizes his skills by winning the first set 11-9. The set was tied on couple of occasions as Farhan was the leader all the time but Waqas came from behind and tied the tally at 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7. 8-8 and 9-all.

It was the second set in which Farhan Mehboob fully dominated the proceedings and did not allow Waqas of PAF to strike back. Farhan won the second set by 11-4. When taking two games lead to nil, Farhan did not look behind and marched into victory after winning the third set by 11-7.

In the second semi-final Danish Atlas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa upset top seeded Zahir Shah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 3-0. Danish, an unseeded played well and did not give much time to Zahir Shah to strike back. Danish won the first set by 11-6, 11-2 and 11-9.
