Fehmida wants females as front runners in sports

Minister for Inter- Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr Fehmida Mirza on Saturday said that females could prove their mettle in every field of life, vowing to create more opportunities and facilities for them in sports.

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2018 ) :Minister for Inter- Provincial Coordination (IPC), Dr Fehmida Mirza on Saturday said that females could prove their mettle in every field of life, vowing to create more opportunities and facilities for them in sports.

Talking to media after a match between Parliamentarians Panthers and Media warriors teams of women journalists, held at the Islamabad Club, she said the promotion of games like cricket, hockey, football and others was a top priority of the incumbent government which would help build a healthier society.

She announced to arrange such extra-curricular activities in the coming days, "I am playing cricket for the first time after recovering from cancer disease," she remarked.

The Minister said female journalists performed their hectic duties and such events were vital for their health. She stressed on joining hands to promote positivity among masses. She urged the educational institutions to hold more extra-curricular activities and encourage the female students' participation in the sports.

She expressed optimism for better future of the country and said "We are going through tough times, but soon we will get rid of the prevailing challenges." She regretted that the corruption was rampant during the past regimes which gradually eroded the infrastructure of sports in the country. The Minister expressed the resolve to make the country corruption-free under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

She appealed to all Pakistanis to come forward and restore the sports activities in sports grounds following the vision of the Prime Minister. Fehmida underlined the need to promote sports at schools level by arranging cu-curriculum activities and added that girls should be on the forefronts to participate in different sports activities.

The Minister also appreciated the holding of Pakistan Super League in the country and announced to invite international cricket teams to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentarians Panthers won the match by chasing a target of 43 runs set by the media workers team.
