FR Peshawar Wins Blind Cricket Title In Tribal Games

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2019 ) :Sub-Division Peshawar team clinched the trophy after defeating strong Khyber District Cricket Team in the Blind Cricket final part of the ongoing Tribal Games simultaneously being continued at different district across merger tribal districts under the aegis of Directorate of Sports on Sunday.
Director Sports Merger Tribal Districts Muhammad Nawaz Khan was the chief guest on this occasion who also witnessed the final match. District Khyber Skipper won the toss and elected to bat first by setting up a meager total of 88 runs and in reply Sub-Division Peshawar chased the target for the loss of three wickets and thus won the title by seven wickets.
So far the events of table tennis, kabaddi, basketball, athletics, and persons with disability cricket, women volleyball and women tug of war. In the baseball final District Khyber recording five runs victory against strong Bajaur team which setup a target of 11 runs and thus got first position.
In the Rugby final Sub-Division Kohat defeated North Waziristan District in the final by 2-1 goals while in Netball Men North Waziristan and Khyber District took berth into the final. District Khyber recorded victory against Khurram and North Waziristan District beat Sub-Division Kohat in the second semi-final.
In the Kabaddi Men final event played at Mohmand District, Mohmand defeated Sub-Division Lakki Marwat by 36-17.
In the Women Volleyball Mohmand defeated District Khyber by 25-22, 25-21 and 25-19 and in the female tug of war Mohmand upset Khyber by 2-1. In the North Waziristan District Mohmand beat Bajaur by 3-0, the score was 25-17, 25-23 and 25-21, Khyber beat South Waziristan by 3-1, the score was 23-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-19 and North Waziristan beat Orakzai District by 3-0, the score was 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22 and moved to the next round.
In the Younis Khan Stadium North Waziristan Bajaur defeated Sub-Division Tank by three wickts while Sub-Dvision Peshawar beat Orakzai District by 36 runs and Sub-Division Kohat beat North Waziristan by 6 wickets. District Sports Officer Imran Khan, Aamir Khan graced the occasion as guests and witnessed the matches.
In the Basketball event played at Parachinar, District Khurram, Khyber District stunned host Khurram by 65-62. The final produced thrilling responses from the sitting spectators as both Khyber and Khurram played well and struggle hard for single point.
It was the first quarter when Khyber took the lead and succeeded in keeping that lead till the end. Khurram District have the support of the local crowds but the team failed to overcome their errors on key occasions and thus lost the match narrowly.
District Finance Officer Anwar Ali was the chief guest at the final and before the start of the final the players of both the finalists' teams Khyber and Khurram were introduced to him. District Sports Officer Amjad Khan, Coordinator Arshad Khan, Planning Officer Mati Ullah Mehsud were also present during the presentation ceremony.
Speaking on this occasion, Amjad Hussain lauded Senior Minister for Sports, Tourism, Culture, and Youth Affairs Muhammad Atif Khan, Director General Sports Junaid Khan, Director Sports Muhammad Nawaz Khan, Event Manager Muhammad Ayub Khan for their untiring efforts in involving the tribal youth in healthy sports activities.
