Jets star Laine in scoring lead with five-goal outburst

Los Angeles, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Nov, 2018 ) :Patrik Laine scored five goals on five shots to take over the league goal scoring lead as the Winnipeg Jets clobbered the St. Louis Blues 8-4 on Saturday night.

Laine's fifth goal was his 19th of the season to top all players in the National Hockey League.

The Finnish forward recorded the 61st five-goal game in NHL history, and one more would have tied him with former Toronto Maple Leaf Darryl Sittler who score six on April 22, 1976 against Boston.

St. Louis Blues forward Red Berenson also scored six goals on November 7, 1968 against Philadelphia, including four over a nine-minute span.

The all-time record is seven by Canadian Joe Malone in 1920.

Laine had three goals in the second period and one each in the first and third in front of a crowd of 17,030 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Brandon Tanev, Blake Wheeler, and Jack Roslovic also scored for the Jets, who snapped their first two-game losing streak of the season.

Jets goaltender Laurent Brossoit let in four goals on 27 shots for his first career victory over the Blues.
