KP U-23 Female Games Begins In Bannu

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2017 ) : Second edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Female Games got under way at a Govt Girls Degree College ground Bannu amidst great fun and joys in the colourful opening ceremony with more than 500 female players are taking part in 15 different disciplines.
Assistant Commissioner Bannu Benish Iqbal was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inagburated the Games in a colourful opening ceremony. Additional Deputyu Commissioner Aziz Ullah Jan, Assistant Commissioners Anila Fahim, Nawaz Khan, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, District Sports Officer Habib Ullah Khan, international coach Syed Jaffar Shah, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.
The colourful ceremony was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Anum Khan, followed by well-prepared national anthem of the local school kids. There was melodious atmosphere as the little girls of Lakki Marwat School presented a traditional local dance �Athern�, followed by a national song �Ye Das Hamara Ha Isay Ham Na Sawara Ha� and Jevy Jevy Pakistan.
The school kids also presented a well-prepared and drilled based smart PT show which was largely enjoyed by the sitting spectators. The little starts have different formations with some of them have even an eye-catching gymnastic show.
There were tones of melodious local dolls (drums) and surna (pipe) carried out beautiful national songs as well. On the opening day of the two-day Gams that involved players from Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts, Bannu got an edge securing first positions in Badminton and Table Tennis, followed by Lakki Marwat with Lakki Marwat Girls won the Tug-of-War event, defeating strong Bannu team.
Besides Badminton, Tennis Table and Tug-of-War, games like athletics, squash, badminton, table tennis, baseball, cricket, hockey, judo, handball, volleyball, basketball and Netball will be organized.
The players have also provided full uniform including shoes, track-suite and playing kits besides daily and travelling allowances. In her introductory speech, Director General Sports said that female KP govt is holding the Under-23 Games for the second consecutive years with due opportunities have been given to the female players.
She said the Games are being organized in two different phases at first players of the districts would participate in 15 female and 20 male Games while in the second phase all seven regions would be involved.
She said the govt is very keen to provide all out facilities and that is why more than 36 grounds have already been prepared and would be utilized in these Games, while 25 others would be completed in June this year.
Each of the ground has a land of 40 kanals with all updated sporting facilities. Earlier, the chief guest Benish Iqbal formally inaugurated the Games with banners , inscribed with different sports slogans, pigeons were released amidst great fun and joys all around. APP/ijz/rn
