Latambar Red Wins OGDCL All-KP Independence Day Football Title

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -16th Sept,2016) : Latambar Red District Karak clinched the trophy of OGDCL All-KP Independence Day Football title after defeating Lakki Karwan of District Lakki on a penalty shootout battle in the final played at Latambar Football ground on Friday.
There were hundreds and thousands of football enthusiasts witnessed the thrilling final. Provincial General Secretary and Leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Rehmat Salam was the chief guest on this occasion.
The match between Latambar Red, District Karak and Karwan Lakki of District Lakki Marwat produced well attacking moves with some good short-passes were also witnessed. The sitting spectators enjoyed the match while cheering and shouting during the match producing as they were mostly supporting Latambar Red team against Lakki Marwat team.
The star of the match right wigner Sajin Ullah first opened the account for Latambar Red in the 28th minute. It was a well-combined move made by the center-mid-fielder Shakir Ullah and after exchanging the ball with the right and left wingers, he gave a free ball to Sajin Ullah who did nothing wrong in dispatching it into the net to make the tally 1-0.
After conceding a goal, Lakki Karwan tried their hard to level the tally but failed and thus at the end of the first session play, Latambar Red was leading by 1-0. It was the second session in which both Latambar Red and Lakki raided on each other goal-post but failed to score.
It was only in the dying moments of the match when Lakki Karwan succeeded in leveling the tally 1-1 when Sami Ullah netted a fine goal from the long distance. The Latambar goal-keeper did not judge the long distance kick of Sami Ullah.
After 1-1 both the team awarded five each penalty kicks on which Latambar Red scored on four occasions and missed a target while Lakki Karwan scored on three and missed two. Thus Latambar Red won the match by 5-4.
At the end, the chief guest Rehmat Salam of PML Nawaz gave away trophies and cash prizes. He also announced Rs. 10000 for the winners and Rs. 7000 for the runners-up team. A total of 27 teams from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took part.
Speaking on this occasion, Rehmat Salam lauded the organizing committee and especially Secretary Organizing Committee Rohullah for organizing the events in befitting manners. He also announced that with the support of OGDCL construction of the pavilion, tube well with water tank and other facilities would be ensured.
Rehmat Salam has made a promised that looking after the love of local people for football, an All Pakistan Football Tournament would be organized next year. He also appreciated the kids taken part in Jevy Jevy Pakistan March by holing National Flag. Officials of the OGDCL and Regional Coordinator Kohat Rang Hamid Parach were also present.
