National Women Volleyball Championship To Start On Wednesday

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Oct, 2018 ) :National Women Volleyball Championship will be commencing here at the indoor hall of the Pakistan sports board Coaching Center Wednesday at 11 am, Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Volleyball Association Khalid Waqar told APP on Tuesday.

He said Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Ch.

Yaqoob had allocated the Championship to Peshawar and KP Volleyball Association is going to organize the National Women Volleyball Championship in befitting manners.

Khalid Waqar, who is also assistant coach of the National Junior team recently visited Abu Dubai, said teams from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Wapda, HEC, POF Waha, Pakistan education Board, Islamabad, FATA, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and host KP would take part for the top honor.

He said final touches have been given to all the arrangement in this connection and hopefully the Championship will be kicking off in a cordial atmosphere. He said out of the Championship the selection committee of PVF would also short-list probables for national camp.

Khalid Waqar said that holding of the Championship would provide ample opportunities to the upcoming players to see top players in action. He said DG Sports KP would grace the occasion as chief guest along with Director Sports Female Games Rashida Ghaznavi at the opening ceremony while Minister Sports KP Atif-ur-Rehman would be the chief guest at the final and prize distribution ceremony.

Khalid Waqar disclosed that the teams have already reached Peshawar and were accommodated in Directorate of Sports KP Female Hostel while the officials were given accommodation in the PSB Coaching Center hostel.

The Championship, he said, will be played according to the international game rules and for this purpose the Pakistan Volleyball Federation also lay down artificial mat of volleyball over the wooden floor. It is the requirement for the national championship to be played on artificial turf of volleyball.

Secretary General PVF Shah Naeem Zafar, hailing from Karachi, said that PVF had already chalked out an elaborate program for the promotion of volleyball across Pakistan and that is why it decided to allot the National Women Championship to Peshawar.

He said they have decided to revive the game in the country which envisaged launch of the Pakistan Volleyball League (PVL) and the Chief Minister`s Cup in all the four provinces. "We have taken the decision to launch the PVL on the pattern of PSL in the country later this year to revive the famous sport," Engr Shah Naeem Zafar.

He said some foreign players will also be invited to create thrill in the proposed league. It will not only promote the sport but will also build the image of the nation, he added. He said PVF is also focusing on the Inter-Club League because through that way we can get new faces under a talent hunt program. "We have also decided to launch a talent hunt program of searching out players in the age of 14 to 16-year-old having six feet height," he further added.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan has remained a force to be reckoned with and was placed fourth in Asia in the yesteryearswhile the juniors were placed third in the region.
