Paris-Roubaix Cyclist Taken To Hospital By Helicopter

Lille, France, April 8 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2018 ) :Belgian cyclist Michael Goolaerts was airlifted to hospital after being knocked unconscious in a heavy crash on the dreaded cobbles of the Paris-Roubaix classic race on Sunday, emergency services said.

The 23-year-old was unconscious and not breathing when he was treated by the race's medical team, then firemen and finally an emergency mobile medical outfit, the fire brigade said. He was said to be in a serious condition when taken to hospital in Lille by helicopter.

The 257km Paris-Roubaix race is known as the 'Hell of the North' because of it's often perilous 54km of bone-crunching cobbled roads.
