Spanish football club announced on Monday the return of French legend Zinedine Zidane to the post of the first team's head coach
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th March, 2019) Spanish football club announced on Monday the return of French legend Zinedine Zidane to the post of the first team's head coach.
"Zinedine Zidane (06/23/1972, Marseille) is the new coach of Real Madrid. The Frenchman returns to the club where he has made history as a player and as a coach," the club said in a statement.
Zidane replaced Santiago Solari at the post. The contract is signed for the period until June 30, 2022.
Zidane resigned from coaching Real Madrid after the end of the 2017/18 season. He led the club to three consecutive victories in the UEFA Champions League.
In La Liga, Real is third after 27 matches, 12 points behind leading Barcelona. Last week, the club was eliminated from the Champions League after 1-4 home loss against Dutch opponent Ajax.
