With an aim to develop football at the grassroots level in Pakistan, RIPHAH International University would bring Liverpool Football Academy in Pakistan, RIPHAH International University Director Marketing Dr Yousaf Siddiqui Friday said
"The Academy will be brought to Pakistan through Ian Rush Foundation and Oxford Creative Hub," Siddiqui said while speaking at a ceremony here.
Liverpool Football Club legend and Global Ambassador LFC Ian Rush, who arrived in Pakistan on Thursday was also present on the occasion.
Rush had already visited RIPHAH International University. "This is my first visit to Pakistan. I've seen a lot of potential and passion of football in Pakistan," Rush said.
"We've to start football here at the grassroots level and for that we'll have to initiate coach and coaches' programme to take it to the next level," he added.
Dr. Yousaf Siddiqui said that RIPHAH University was playing an instrumental role in imparting excellence in education as well as growth and development of students. "This is only possible with the integration of sports such as football," he said.
He said that Pakistan was the largest producer of hand stitched footballs in the world. "We also dream our country to be the largest producer of footballers as well. We have to use education and sports for nation building and portraying a soft softer image of Pakistan," he added.
Ian Rush also gave golden tips to football team players of RIPHAH University.
