Russian footballers have passed more than 2,500 doping tests in the past two years (2017 and 2018) and only one sample has tested positive for banned substances, Member of the Medical Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Konstantin Modenov said on Friday.
"The measures that have been taken have enabled the Russian Football Union in 2017 and 2018 to avoid even the slightest problems with the anti-doping bodies," he said at an annual conference, "Anti-Doping Provision in sports Federations: Challenges and Possibilities.
""Of the entire amount of samples taken from Russian footballers in this period, and there were more than 2,500 of them, only one contained banned substances. I mean 39-year-old Ivan Yershov from the Pskov-747 football club whose sample exposed meldonium and trimetazidine," he said.
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has fully acknowledged the absence of any covert violations of the anti-doping legislation by Russian footballers over the past two years, he noted.
