Semi Final Line Up Completed In Inter-varsity Hockey

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2017 ) : National inter-university hockey championship reached to the semi final stage when four teams qualified after winning their respective matches here on Thursday at National hockey stadium.
In the first quarter final, Superior University routed University of Science and Technology, Bannu 5-0. Scorers: Ammar (2), Hassan, Ashar & Naeem. Government College University Lahore gave a hockey lesson to Bahria University Islamabad with 8-0 thrashing in a one sided affair.
Scorers: Rashid Sardar 2, Usman Burki, Faisal, Usman Hanif, Fida, Zunaib, Farrukh. After two one sided matches, the third quarter final saw a well contested tussle between Punjab University and University of Sargodha and the home team scored a narrow 1-0 win.
Punjab University coached by Pakistan's former captain Mohammad Saqlain had more of the play but their goal shy forwards missed several chances. University of Sargodha, very good on turn overs, also had opportunities.
It appeared the match would go to the shoot out. However, in the dying minutes, Punjab University's promising forward Saraan found the net off a rebound. Last quarter final saw the defending champions University of Central Punjab defeat University of Karachi 4-1 Scorers: University of Central Punjab: Zain Ijaz (2), Abrar & Sajjawal.
University of Karachi: Hammad Ahmed The two semi finals will be played tomorrow, Friday Government College University Lahore vs Superior University and Punjab University vs University of Central Punjab.
