Swimming: World Championships In Numbers

BUDAPEST, , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jul, 2017 ) - The swimming section of the world aquatic championships finished on Sunday. Here is a look back at the eight-day event in numbers: 7 = The number of gold medals Caeleb Dressel of the USA won in Budapest, equalling Michael Phelps' record set at the 2007 world championships in Melbourne.
Dressel's haul includes three individual titles in the 50m, 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly, plus relay golds in the 4x100m freestyle, 4x100m mixed freestyle, 4x100m mixed medley and 4x100m medley.
98 == The number of minutes it took for Dressel to win three world gold medals on Saturday night. He won the men's 50 freestyle and 100m butterfly finals in quick succession, then helped the USA quartet in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay.
No swimmer had ever won three golds in one session before at a world championships. 13 == The age of Bahraini teenager Ritaj Amin, the youngest swimmer at these championships, who raced in the women's 50m freestyle and butterfly heats.
14 == The amount of world gold medals Katie Ledecky of the USA has in her collection.
The 20-year-old won five in Budapest after winning four at Barcelona in 2013 and five in Kazan two years ago.
6 = The number of individual world records which fell at the Budapest championships. Britain's Adam Peaty, who broke the men's 50m breaststroke twice, and Sarah Sweden's Sjostorm, who broke the women's 50m and 100m freestyle records, took two apiece.
Lilly King of the USA broke the women's 100m breaststroke record, while Canada's Kylie Masse bettered the women's 100m backstroke time. 0.01 ==== The margin of defeat in seconds which cost China's Fu Yuanhui gold in the women's 50m backstroke final behind Brazil's Etiene Medeiros 2 = The number of years since teenage refugee swimmer Yusra Mardini slept rough for a week in a Budapest train station, temporarily stranded on her journey from Syria to Germany.
Last week the 19-year-old Syrian returned to the Hungarian capital in different circumstances: to compete in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle events.
