AU 32nd Summit to Discuss Digital Identity Management to Improve Economy - Rwandan Leader

ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) The African Union's 32nd summit will address digital identity management as it looks to improve the continent's economy, Rwandan President Paul Kagame said during the opening ceremony of the summit on Sunday.

"During this summit we will consider guidelines for a common African approach for digital identity management.

The purpose of this initiative is to increase economic inclusivity and trust for our citizens," Kagame said.

The digital identity management system allows proving personality during online operations, thus making them more transparent and protected from fraud.

The African Union, headquartered in the Ethiopian capital, is a continental union comprised of 55 member states, which aims to achieve regional integration and increase solidarity among all African countries.
