Blocking Of Facebook Pages Linked To RT Unacceptable - Russian Foreign Ministry

Moscow believes the blocking by Facebook of pages related to RT is unacceptable, Russia is waiting for a response from the OSCE, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday
Earlier reports said Facebook, without explaining the reasons, had blocked a number of accounts associated with the RT channel.
"Once again, we are dealing with an act of direct and legally unjustified pressure on information sources that official Washington dislikes. Obviously, this trend towards internet censorship is only increasing, despite repeated calls from the West to respect freedom in the digital and information environment," the ministry said.
"The situation in which the Facebook administration, in an authoritarian and non-transparent manner, blocks accounts in violation of the generally accepted principles of freedom of expression and equal access to information, is unacceptable. We are calling for a reaction from relevant international structures, primarily the OSCE representative on freedom of the media. We would also like to hear an assessment of such a 'free' American-style Internet on the part of international human rights organizations," it said.
