Freelancing websites connect entrepreneurs and businesses to the talented freelancers, such websites had been growing for over a decade in lands where people could access them over broadband.

Pakistan is among five globally in freelancing and generated a significant calculated amount of US $0.5 billion entirely from freelancing.

Pakistan is ranked as the 4th most popular country for freelancing in the Online Labor Index published in 2017 by Oxford internet Institute (OII) and is consistently ranked among the top destinations for ICT outsourcing as a result of growth of the IT sector in Pakistan.

Talking to APP ministry official said, the calculated revenue is 0.5 billion USD but in actually it is more then it, framework for e-commerce is not implemented yet after the framework it would be channelized to contribute to the national exchequer.

He said many universities in Pakistan are offering software and IT degrees and due to demand of this field many individuals have chosen to opt for ever growing field.

He said, freelancing is opening new opportunities for people who need a more flexible way of working, like students, women sitting at homes (particularly relevant in our context), and the specially-abled.

Now a days many people work from home and earn good amount while going nowhere. Many people manage to freelance with their regular jobs to make good amount of money, he added.

He said being a freelancer, one can directly communicate with the people of other countries where one can create a perception about all people of their country in others mind so its everyone responsibility to take care of their country's reputation.

In free lancing first, second and third position is acquired by India, Bangladesh and United States respectively. The largest overall supplier of online labor according to the data is the traditional outsourcing destination India, which is home to 24 percent of the workers observed. According to report, Pakistan is home to 9% of total freelancers.
