LAHORE (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / NNI - 19th February, 2019) The Information Technology University (ITU) the Punjab's school of Humanities and Social Sciences is launching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Tech Lab in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Pakistan on Wednesday, 20th February 2019 at Seminar Room, Arfa Software Technology Park.Mr.

Ignacio Artaza, Country Director, UNDP Pakistan will inaugurate the SDG Tech Lab while Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Acting Vice Chancellor, ITU, Dr. Akmal Hussain Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, ITU, Dr.

Izza Aftab Director SDG Tech Lab, Head of Economics Department, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, ITU, Shakeel Ahmad Chief Development Policy Unit and Assistant Country Director, UNDP Pakistan and Ms.

Lina Mousa Representative, UNFPA Pakistan will address the workshop.

The Lab is being established in order to develop and test innovative ideas and tools that could leverage Information and Communication Technologies in the implementation and timely completion of the key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan.

The long term objective of the SDG Tech Lab is to conduct cutting edge research on the use of technology in solving various socio-economic problems in the country which are central to the global SDGs agenda.The workshop will discuss the core objectives of the SDG Tech Lab and its scope of work.

The representatives of the Federal, all the four provincial and respective regional SDGs Units will identify various socio-economic problems and governance issues where the use of technology can contribute towards the timely completion of SDGs in Pakistan. The experts of ITU will discuss technology based solutions to the identified problems. NNI
