IS Members Planning Attacks in Dushanbe Recruited via Internet - Security Committee

The 12 members of the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) terrorist group who were detained in Tajikistan over planning terrorist attacks in the country have been recruited via Internet, the first deputy head of the Tajik National Security Committee, Mansourjon Umarov, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

DUSHANBE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) The 12 members of the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) terrorist group who were detained in Tajikistan over planning terrorist attacks in the country have been recruited via internet, the first deputy head of the Tajik National Security Committee, Mansourjon Umarov, told Sputnik on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, a source in the committee told Sputnik that the country's security services had detained 12 people suspected of planning terrorist attacks.

"The members of the criminal group were recruited to the IS via Internet, and they gave an oath of loyalty to the IS online," Umarov said.

He specified that the IS members had been apprehended in the flat of one of them a week ago after having been shadowed.

"Explosive devices have been found in the flat, as well as their filling consisting of bearings and split nails, and also clickers for putting the explosive devices into operation," Umarov added.

He said that investigative activities had been almost completed, and that the case would be soon submitted to court.
