Russia Resumes Production of RD-120 Rocket Engines - Energomash Company

Russia's major rocket engine producer Energomash said Wednesday it resumes production of the RD-120 upper stage rocket engine, which has been manufactured in Ukraine for more than 30 years

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th May, 2019) Russia's major rocket engine producer Energomash said Wednesday it resumes production of the RD-120 upper stage rocket engine, which has been manufactured in Ukraine for more than 30 years.

The RD-120 engine was developed by Energomash in 1976-1985 for the second stage of the Zenit launch vehicle manufactured in Ukraine.

It was mass produced at Ukraine's Southern Machine-Building Plant.

"This engine has not been manufactured (by Energomash) for more than 30 years. And now there is a resumption of production, its modernization, improvement of some characteristics for its use as part of prospective Russian space rockets," according to video footage posted on the company's website.
