About 100 debris fragments have been left after India's tests of the anti-satellite weapons and now pose a threat to the International Space Station (ISS), the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th April, 2019) About 100 debris fragments have been left after India's tests of the anti-satellite weapons and now pose a threat to the International Space Station (ISS), the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday.

"On March 27, India successfully tested anti-satellite weapons.

As a result of the spacecraft destruction, more than 100 fragments were left at the altitude ranging from 100 to 1000 kilometers [62 to 621 miles]. It may create threats, as the orbit is very close to the ISS," Roman Fattakhov, the senior aide to the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Space Intelligence Center, said at a conference on space debris in Moscow.
