Russian Embassy In US Says Facebook Should Open Dialogue To Address Misunderstandings
Daniyal Sohail Published May 08, 2019 | 11:40 PM
The Russian embassy in the United States said in a statement on Wednesday that Facebook should engage in dialogue with the diplomatic mission to address misunderstandings the company considers to be coordinated inauthentic behavior from the Kremlin
"Facebook administration continues to imitate a fight against 'coordinated inauthentic behavior from Russia,' removing dozens of accounts. It increasingly appears to be a travesty," the statement said. "Dialogue could prevent emergency of emergence of ridiculous mistakes and misunderstandings in the examples with which this social network is trying to present to Congress its determination countering the made-up 'Russian threat.
'"
Earlier this week, Facebook announced it had removed 97 accounts, pages and groups from its platform that were involved in what the company called a "coordinated inauthentic behavior" as part of a network originating in Russia that focused on the Ukraine.
The Russian embassy also criticized Facebook for deleting an account that shared a story about the shelling of journalists in the Donbas region by Ukrainian troops.
"Does Facebook support shooting journalists? Or only Russian journalists?" the statement said.
The Russian embassy added that Facebook has ignored its calls for launching a direct dialogue.
