Russian Experts Foiled 2,500 Cyberattacks During Youth Championship in Krasnoyarsk

Russian cybersecurity experts staved off over 2,500 threats to electric utilities servicing an international youth competition earlier in March, Russian state tech corporation Rostec said Friday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) Russian cybersecurity experts staved off over 2,500 threats to electric utilities servicing an international youth competition earlier in March, Russian state tech corporation Rostec said Friday.

The 2019 Winter Universiade took place in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk on March 2-12.

"During this time, we registered a large number of attempted denial-of-service attacks on the utilities' external networks as well as attempts to break into local networks, Measures taken... averted over 2,500 threats," the corporation said in a statement.

Rostec said Avtomatika Concern was charged with providing cybersecurity. It flagged 12,000 other incidents in the local networks as potential security threats. There was no disruption in energy supply during the championships, Rostec added.
