Russia's Soyuz-5 Can Take Up Some 18% of Medium-Lift Carrier Rockets Market - Roscosmos

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th November, 2018) The Soyuz-5 carrier rocket, which is currently being developed in Russia, may take up to 18 percent of the middle-range carriers, according to a video posted by Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin on Twitter on Sunday.

"The projections of the spacecraft launches market show that the potential of the medium-lift carriers of the Soyuz-5 type market can make up to 58 percent, with its total volume amounting to $1.2 billion," the video said.

It was specified that the medium-lift carriers market included prospective carriers with a carrying capacity of up to five tonnes.

"The Soyuz-5 carrier rocket can take up to 18 percent of this market," the video said.

The two-stage medium-lift Soyuz 5 rocket will be around 160 feet tall, with a payload capacity of up to 25 metric tonnes. Its first manned launch is scheduled for 2023.
