South Korean President Suggests Creating APEC Digital Economy Fund

TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) South Korean President Moon Jae-in suggested at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Sunday to create an APEC digital economy fund, local media reported.

According to the Yonhap news agency, Moon said in his address that the fund could "serve as pump-priming water to induce the participation of economic players in each country and support the enhancement of capability of developing countries.

"Korea promises to constructively contribute to the creation and operation of the APEC Digital Innovation Fund," he went on to say.

Moon emphasized Seoul's commitment to promote inclusive and sustainable growth in the region.

Last year, the APEC adopted an internet and Digital Economy Road Map aiming to develop technologies and boost digital cooperation between the APEC members.
