Russian digital giant Yandex said Friday it had started removing links to the online resources with banned pirate content in compliance with the so-called "anti-piracy memorandum."
On November 1, Yandex joined Mail.
ru, Rambler and Kinopisk, as well as Russia's leading media holdings, in signing the memorandum on cooperation in the fight against online piracy.
"Following the reached agreements, on November 15, Yandex began excluding from the search results the links to web pages with controversial content, which have been added to a special register according to rights holders' requests. The links disappear from the search results within six hours after being placed in the registry," the company said in a statement.
