Political Promos Land Careem In Hot Waters With Boycott Campaign

Careem clarifies that is politically neutral and our election taglines covered all popular political slogans

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th July, 2018) Popular ride-hailing app Careem is being criticized for launching promo codes using slogans of various political parties of the country.

The ride-hailing app appears to have picked sides with its promo codes.

Careem target Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) with promo afternuun and tagline “Mujhay Promo kyun nikala”, upsetting the party supporters. Following this, a campaign to boycott Careem was launched on social media while there are reports of Careem being deleted as well.

Careem has however issued an aopology with a statement released on social media, saying Careem is politically neutral and our election taglines covered all popular political slogans.

"We sincerely apologise for hurting your sentiments. Careem is politically neutral and our election taglines covered all popular political slogans. Our singular aim is to get everyone to the polling stations. #CareemForDemocracy," Careem on its Twitter account.
