Dense foggy conditions to engulf plain areas of Punjab, upper Sindh

Dense foggy conditions will engulf plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh till the next rain spell which is likely on January 30 or 31, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD)

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jan, 2019 ) :Dense foggy conditions will engulf plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh till the next rain spell which is likely on January 30 or 31, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Talking to APP, Rashid Bilal who is a weather expert at PMD said, "Dense foggy conditions would prevail in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during the next four to five days".

Indicating chances of rain by the end of January, he said, "PMD is expecting chances of rain at various parts of the country by end of the month after which the intensity of fog will reduce at the places where rain would occur".

Rashid Bilal said fog appears in some places during the night time, turns into dense after 4:00 am in morning and starts reducing after 10:00 am.

About duration of Winter season this year, he said, it looks that Winter season will be prolonged this year and cold weather will prevail till March due to on and off rain spells likely in February and March.

According to the PMD, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next 24 hours. However, light rain with light snowfall over the hills is expected at few places in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dense foggy conditions are likely in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:Dir (Lower 08 mm, upper 04), Saidu Sharif 07, Malamjabba 04, Mirkhani 05, Kalam, Drosh 03, Chitral 02, Kashmir: Garidupatta 02, Muzaffarabad 01 and Gilgit Baltistan:Bunji 01 mm.

The snowfall recorded during the period was Malamjabba 2.0 inches, Kalam 1.5 and Bagrote 0.4 inch.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Kalam -13 C, Ziarat, Skardu -12 C, Gupis, Astore, Bagrote -08 C, Malamjabba, Kalat -07 C, Quetta -06 C, Hunza, Parachinar -04 C, Murree, Rawalakot, Dalbandin -03 C, Dir, Nokkundi, Chitral, Mirkhani, Drosh, Kakul and Zhob -02 C.
