Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thundershower in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, southeastern Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jul, 2024) Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-windstorm/thundershower in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, southeastern Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours.

Heavyfalls may also occur in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, northeast/south Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the period.

According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents were penetrating from Bay of Bengal in upper/eastern parts and likely to penetrate in central and southern parts of the country.

Heavyfalls may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Koh Sulaiman and adjoining hilly areas of northeast Balochistan on July 29 and July 30.

Urban flooding may also occur in the low-lying areas of northeast/south Punjab, Peshawar, Karachi including lower Sindh during the forecast period.

During the last 24 hours, rain-windstorm/thundershower with isolated heavyfall occurred in Northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Islamabad, southeastern Sindh, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and northeast Balochistan.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Punjab: Rawalpindi (Chaklala 81mm, Shamsabad 68, Kacheri 56), Islamabad (Saidpur 57, Golra 54, Zero Point 39, Bokra 38, Airport 10), Sargodha 43, Mandi Bahauddin 30, Jhang, Murree 24, Khanpur 18, Noor Pur Thal 15, Mangla 12, Attock 08, Faisalabad 07, Joharabad, Toba Tek Singh, Chakwal, Narowal 01, Sindh: Chhor 58, Badin, Mithi 01, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Kakul 43, Balakot 05, Malam Jabba 02, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 27, Airport 13), Kotli 17, Garhi Dupatta 03, Balochistan: Lasbela 11, Kalat 05 and Panjgur 01mm.

The highest maximum temperatures recorded were Sibbi 47C, Dalbandin, Nokkundi 46 and Dadu 45C.
