ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2018 ) :Federal Flood Commission (FFC) in its daily flood situation report Tuesday claimed River Ravi is flowing in Low Flood at Jassar (1st Control Point in Pakistan on Ravi) with rising trend.
The report further said that inflow at Sulemanki Headworks (1st Control Point in Pakistan on Sutlej) is rising with present discharge of 12,000 cusecs, adding all other main Rivers i.e. Indus, Jhelum and Chenab are flowing normal.
Water situation at reservoirs is persisting to decline where the actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela Dam is at 1511.58 feet, 38.42 feet below its maximum conservation level (MAL) and Mangla reservoir at 72.85 feet below its MAL of 1242 feet which is 1169.15 feet.
The present combined live storage of three reservoirs has been reduced to 6.711 million acre feet (MAF) (49.05 per cent of the total storage capacity of 13.681 MAF).
The report said, "Indus River System Authority (IRSA) needs to ensure conservation of water in the two major reservoirs (for incoming Rabi Season) up to the maximum owing to the fact that Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in its Seasonal Forecast (September-November 2018) has predicted drought like conditions especially in Lower Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan with no or minimum rainfall".
As per Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, yesterday's Well Marked Monsoon Low over Northern Rajasthan (India) and adjoining Southwestern Uttar Pradesh (India) has moved away Northeastwards and has become insignificant as far as its impact on Pakistan is concerned.
"Westerly Wave trough earlier over Northern parts of Pakistan has moved away Eastwards with weak Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Northern Balochistan", the report added.
The report said that in view of prevailing river flows at Ganda Singh Wala, Shahdara and Balloki (River Ravi), the concerned District Management Authorities, Provincial and District Disaster Management Authorities PDMAs and DDMAs respectively and particular zones of Punjab Irrigation Department are advised to remain ALERT round the clock for combating any emergency situation on ground and PDMA Punjab along with concerned DDMAs to ensure safety of human life, public and private properties.
As predicted by FFD, Lahore, mainly dry weather is expected over most parts of Pakistan during the next 24 hours.
No Significant rainfall event has been reported by FFD, Lahore during the past 24 hours, except for 19 mm at Kotnaina, the report added.
