Weather Turns Cold After Rain, Hailstorm

The weather turned pleasant and cold in Kurram Agency after heavy rainfall and hailstorm in Parachinar and other parts where the mercury level dropped to 10C

PARACHINAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th May, 2018 ) :The weather turned pleasant and cold in Kurram Agency after heavy rainfall and hailstorm in Parachinar and other parts where the mercury level dropped to 10C.

The heavy rain pour coupled with hailstorm caused losses to wheat crop, vegetables and fruits as people urged the government to declare the agency a calamity-hit area and announce financial assistance for the farmers and growers.

The Met office on Thursday forecast mainly partly cloudy weather for most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. However, thunderstorm-rain with gusty winds was expected at scattered places in Chital, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu, Karak districts and Kurram, Bajour, Mohmand, Khyber and Orakzai agencies in FATA while at isolated places in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, D I Khan and Tank districts and North and South Waziristan Agencies in FATA.

The weather remained partly cloudy during the last 24 hours in most parts of the region. However thunderstorm-rain with gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Hazara, Malakand, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat Divisions and FATA.

The chief amount of rainfall recorded in mm was: Kohat 08, Dir 01, Cherat 01, Parachinar 04, Kalam 03, Peshawar 04, Balakot 03, Timergara 06, Pattan 03, Malam Jabba 27 and Drosh 01.
