Defense Ministers of Russia and Burkina Faso, Sergei Shoigu and Jean Claude Bouda, on Tuesday signed an agreement on military cooperation on the sidelines of the Army-2018 defense industry forum, which is currently being held in the Moscow Region

KUBINKA (Moscow Region) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Defense Ministers of Russia and Burkina Faso, Sergei Shoigu and Jean Claude Bouda, on Tuesday signed an agreement on military cooperation on the sidelines of the Army-2018 defense industry forum, which is currently being held in the Moscow Region.

"This will help implement the most important areas of cooperation in joint training of troops, exchanging peacekeeping experience and combating terrorism," Shoigu said.

According to the Russian minister, the agreement will serve as a basis for the development of relations between Moscow and Ouagadougou in the defense area.

"We are aware that international terrorism and regional extremism are widespread in the Sahara-Sahel area. We should fight against this common threat together," Shoigu underlined, adding that Russia regarded Burkina Faso as a prospective partner in West Africa.

Bouda, in turn, stressed that the signing of the agreement demonstrated the sustainable relationship between the two parties.

The Army-2018 forum kicked off earlier on Tuesday at the Patriot congress and exhibition center in the town of Kubinka, the Moscow Region, and will last until Sunday, August 26.
