MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th January, 2019) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev recommended creating the position of first deputy prime minister who would handle affairs related to the development of the Arctic region at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin on Friday, the Kremlin said on Friday.

At the meeting, Medvedev and Putin discussed the possibility of delegating issues related to the Arctic region to the Ministry for Development of the Russian Far East, according to the Kremlin.

"I would even suggest, perhaps, creating the position of first deputy prime minister who would be directly responsible for the Arctic zone," Medvedev said as quoted by the Kremlin.

In December, Medvedev ordered the government, nuclear corporation Rosatom, Russian Railways (RZD) and other companies to develop a plan to achieve full mineral resource and logistic potential of the Russian Arctic by March 11.
