Sydney, Feb 4 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th Feb, 2018 ) :Melbourne City extended their unbeaten run to six games to consolidate third place behind Sydney FC with a 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar in Australia's A-League on Sunday.
Midfielder Stefan Mauk nabbed the winner with a terrific headed goal in the 67th minute while Italian Massimo Maccarone missed a penalty 13 minutes from time after scoring in the first half.
City are four points behind the second-placed Newcastle Jets after 19 rounds.
Sydney FC swept aside a defensively-chaotic Wellington Phoenix, winning 4-0 to hold onto their nine-point lead at the top of the table. Phoenix, whose skipper Andrew Durante broke the record for most appearances in his 279th A-League game, gifted Sydney three goals with sloppy defending.
