About 870 Syrian Refugees Return Home From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Russian Military

About 870 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Thursday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) About 870 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Thursday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 869 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 108 people (33 women and 55 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints; 761 people (228 women and 388 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, 57 internally displaced persons have also returned home within past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Syrian engineering units continue their mine-clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have found and destroyed 26 explosive devices.

Russia and Turkey, alongside Iran, are guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups operating in the country and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.
