Acting US Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan has met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and other top leaders during his surprise visit to the country before attending a NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels, the Pentagon said in a press release
WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) Acting US Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan has met Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and other top leaders during his surprise visit to the country before attending a NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels, the Pentagon said in a press release.
"He is meeting with President Ashraf Ghani, Abdullah Abdullah, chief executive of Afghanistan, and other Afghan officials to discuss a broad range of defense issues," the release said on Monday. "The secretary is also meeting with Operation Resolute Support leaders and troops."
After visiting Afghanistan, Shanahan will travel to Brussels for a February 13-14 meeting of NATO defense ministers, the release added.
