ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) The African Union is interested in continuing to strengthen cooperation with China in various spheres, African Union's (AU) Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said during the 32 AU summit on Monday.
"We have a cooperation that is quite extended and that is quite important in all the areas with China, in the area of health, in the area of infrastructure, in energy and so on. So there is no area that lacks the will of the two parties to cooperate and strengthen the partnership.
So I can only be happy with the level of this cooperation and the political dialogue is perfect so we are going to continue to strengthen that," Chergui said at a press briefing.
The 32 AU summit is currently underway in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
The two-day summit, which kicked off on Sunday, has brought together the leaders of the African states to hold a variety of sessions to exchange views on such issues as the AU institutional reform, peace and security, and the establishment of new AU legal instruments.
