MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th March, 2019) Representatives of the government of the Central African Republic (CAR) and armed opposition groups have confirmed their attendance at a consultation meeting on the country's peace settlement, Smail Chergui, the African Union (AU)'s peace and security commissioner, told Sputnik on Saturday.
"Everybody will come, and hopefully we can quickly address all the issues at hand. Everybody will be at this meeting all of them," Chergui said.
The car government and 14 armed groups signed a peace agreement after 10 days of talks in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum in early February.
CAR President Faustin Archange Touadera did a cabinet reshuffle on March 3, which Moussa Faki Mahamat, the AU Commission chairman, described as a "step toward inclusive and representative governance in the CAR."
Last week the AU announced that it would convene a consultation meeting of the deal's stakeholders in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa on March 18 to follow up on the progress that has been made since the deal was signed.
