Amman, Moscow Discuss Idea Of Creating Russian Industrial Park In Jordan - Ministry

AMMAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Jordanian and Russian officials discussed on Tuesday the idea to create a Russian industrial park in the Hashemite Kingdom, the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said.

The talks took place at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Moscow.

"The Jordanian delegation again discussed with the Russian side the creation of an assistance program for Jordan to finance priority projects. The sides also discussed the idea of creating a Russian industrial park in the kingdom.

The Jordanian side offered the Russian side participation in large infrastructure projects as part of partnerships between the public and private sectors," the ministry said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.

During the meeting, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kamel Kawar also reaffirmed Amman's intention to sign a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding with the EAEU back in September 2017 in a bid to strengthen and diversify mutual trade.
