MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd February, 2019) A concert has begun on the Venezuelan side of the country's border with Colombia following a concert in the Colombian border town of Cucuta, which was dedicated to collecting humanitarian aid for Venezuela.
Venezuela Aid Live concert, organized by US business tycoon Richard Branson, finished on Friday in Colombia. The organizers sought to raise $10 million, which they said would be a starting point toward raising $100 million, in humanitarian assistance to Venezuela from world governments.
The concert, ongoing at the Venezuelan side of an international crossing in Cucuta, is called Nothing for War and will be held for three days.
It is being broadcast in Periscope.
Earlier in February, Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who proclaimed himself the country's interim president, announced that humanitarian aid would arrive in the crisis-torn country this Saturday, despite the reluctance of President Nicolas Maduro to allow the aid in.
Maduro's government has cited concerns that foreign humanitarian aid might justify foreign intervention, blocking the deliveries at the border.
