MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2019) Participants of anti-government rallies that are happening across Venezuela have burned down a police station in the northern state of Carabobo, local media reported.
The station, located in Carabobo's Puerto Cabello, was destroyed late on Tuesday, the Nacional newspaper specified.
A video posted on social media showed clouds of black smoke raising above the police station.
Local residents have reported that they had heard shooting in the vicinity of the station.
Protests against President Nicolas Maduro started across Venezuela late on Tuesday.
Later on Wednesday, nationwide government rallies will be held, coinciding with the 61st anniversary of the coup that overthrew former President Marcos Perez Jimenez. Maduro's supporters are going to participate in the rally as well.
According to local media, the protests have already claimed two lives and caused two injuries.
