At Least 1 Palestinian Killed, 6 Wounded By Israeli Army In Gaza - Spokeswoman

GAZA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) One Palestinian was killed and six others were injured by the Israeli military in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry's spokeswoman told Sputnik on Sunday.

"A 23-year-old Palestinian died in hospital from severe wounds, and three Palestinians were injured in overnight clashes in the north of the Gaza Strip," Wafaa Yagi said, adding that another three Palestinians were wounded in a strike of an Israeli drone.

In turn, the Israeli army said that its drone attacked two Hamas posts after Palestinians had used explosive devices near the border.

The new wave of escalation near the Gaza border began last March, when Palestinian protests, dubbed the Great March of Return, began. The tensions further mounted in fall due to continued shelling and arson balloons launches from Gaza into the Israeli territory and Israeli strikes on Palestinian targets in response to these actions.
