At least 45 people remain missing due to heavy rains that hit the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, local media reported on Tuesday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) At least 45 people remain missing due to heavy rains that hit the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, local media reported on Tuesday.
According to the ANI news agency, the people have gone missing in the district of Lahaul and Spiti.
There are reportedly 35 students of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee among those missing.
Earlier reports said that at least 11 people had died and several more had been injured as a result of floods and landslides caused by the rainfall.
Schools remain closed in the state of Jammu and Kashmir as well as in most parts of Himachal Pradesh.
The monsoon season started in India in June and has already left over 1,000 people dead.
