Greece and Turkey resumed discussions of trust-building measures in the armed forces, the Greek Defense Ministry said Monday.
ATHENS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) Greece and Turkey resumed discussions of trust-building measures in the armed forces, the Greek Defense Ministry said Monday.
"After the recent events and the release of two Greek soldiers, under the instructions of Defense Minister Panos Kammenos and Chief of General Staff Evangelos Apostolakis, it was decided to cancel the suspension of talks on trust-building measures with the armed forces of Turkey," the ministrys press service said.
The talks were put on hold amid a standoff over the two Greek servicemen held in Turkish custody since March on suspicions of espionage. Greece claimed that the servicemen strayed into the Turkish territory by mistake during their patrol mission due to bad weather conditions. The soldiers were however released earlier this month.
