Beirut considers any attempts to use the refugees' factor in the upcoming Syrian presidential elections doomed to failure, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said on Monday.

"The plan to use the refugees' factor in the upcoming presidential elections in Syria will not work.

It has already failed, because people cannot be used for such purposes," Bassil told a press conference after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
