BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 09th April, 2019) Beijing urges the United States to properly conduct the investigation into the Chinese woman, who had breached security at US President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, as well as to guarantee her legal rights, the Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesman, Lu Kang, said on Tuesday.
"After the incident, the Chinese Consulate General contacted the woman and provided her with the necessary consular assistance. The Chinese government calls on its citizens residing in other states to strictly comply with the norms and laws of these countries ... At the same time, we urge the US side to properly investigate this matter in accordance with the law and to guarantee the security, legal rights and interests of the Chinese national," Lu said at a briefing.
Yujing Zhang, a Chinese national, was arrested by the US Secret Service in late March after she allegedly made false statements to bypass security and gain access to the Mar-a-Lago resort. Zhang was carrying two passports, multiple cellphones and a thumb drive containing malicious software when she was detained, according to a criminal complaint filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The woman was charged with giving a false testimony and illegally entering a restricted property.
