BELGRADE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd November, 2018) Serbian authorities will not slap the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo with retaliatory measures in response to imposed duties on imports from Serbia, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said late on Wednesday after the session of the country's National Security Council.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kosovo imposed 100-percent import duties on all products originating from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Pristina also had decided to impose 10 percent tariffs earlier in November on goods coming from the two countries because of their hostile approach toward the self-proclaimed republic.
"Serbia will not respond with any countermeasures because it wants to remain a reliable partner in the region and in Europe and in the world. We will not stop trucks, but we want to show the difference between responsible and irresponsible behavior," Vucic at a press conference.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on Wednesday also called on Pristina to overturn the decision to increase tariffs as they contradict the agreements existing in the region.
