Bill Limiting Participation Of Foreign Investors In Russian News Aggregators Sent To Duma

A bill suggesting to set the maximum share of foreign shareholders in the charter capital of Russian news aggregators at 20 percent was submitted on Monday to the lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma.

aims at reducing the participation in the activity of a news aggregator owner of foreign states; international organizations and organizations controlled by them; foreign entities; Russian entities in the charter capital of which the share of foreign shareholders exceeds 20 percent; foreign citizens, persons without any citizenship, and of Russian citizens also having a citizenship of another state," the explanatory note to the bill read.
The note said that these limitations aimed at preventing threat for the public order in Russia and at creating favorable conditions for the civil society development in the country.
