Blast Hits Plant In Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region, Leaving No Casualties - Emergency

A blast occurred at the JSC GosNII Kristall plant, located in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region, on Thursday, and while an explosives production facility has been completely destroyed, no casualties have been registered, a source in the regional emergency service told Sputnik

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 04th April, 2019) A blast occurred at the JSC GosNII Kristall plant, located in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region, on Thursday, and while an explosives production facility has been completely destroyed, no casualties have been registered, a source in the regional emergency service told Sputnik.

"The building of an explosives production workshop was completely destroyed as a result of the explosion," the source said, specifying that the size of the building was about 2,000 square feet.

He said that a territory of some 150 square meters (1,600 square feet) was currently in flames.

The plant confirmed that the explosion had not caused any casualties.

Investigation into the reasons behind the incident is underway.
