Blasts In Sri Lanka Could Have Been Carried Out By Suicide Bombers - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st April, 2019) Blasts that hit churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday could have been carried out by suicide bombers, local media reported citing sources familiar with the investigation.
According to Sri Lankan Daily Mirror news outlet, preliminary results of the investigation showed that on Saturday, two people checked in a room at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo, where one of the explosions later occurred.
Video surveillance footage showed that the suspects had detonated bombs in a cafe and a corridor of the hotel. Investigators believe that the C-4 explosive was used.
The nationality of the suspects is still unknown and the investigation is underway, according to the publication.
Eight blasts took place in Sri Lanka on Sunday, hitting several churches and hotels in the country's capital of Colombo and other cities. According to media reports, the attacks claimed lives of at least 185 people, while almost 500 others were injured. The country's government imposed a curfew from 6:00 p.m. Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday local time (from 12:30 p.m. Sunday to 00:30 a.m. Monday GMT).
