Blood type: suitable indicator for the risk of heart disease

(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th june, 2016) : Analysis of a man's blood can make an estimate of a person's 10 year risk for cardiac disease which is a way better alternate than the recognition of the disease from traditional risk factors lone, a new research said. The blood analysis for cholestrol and triglycerides can give an idea of the probability of the risk of acquiring cardiovascular disease .According to researchers from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), 10-year risk for cardiovascular disease can be diagnosed by using the additional information about Body Mass Index (BMI), smoking habits and blood pressure. The patients having none of the conventional risk factors For myocardial infarction, and they would be considered as low risk, they said.

Myocardial infarction can be diagnosed more proximity by measuring a combination of five different microRNAs and incursing this information to the traditional risk factors for cardiovascular disease", said Anja Bye from NTNU.Some calculators add information of an inflammation marker in blood called CRP (C-reactive protein) or a diabetic marker called HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin), researchers said. This study was founded by the scientists to look into the expectation of a new bio marker named as circulating micro RNAs through which 10-year risk for myocardial infarctiond could be predicted. The findings were published in the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology.
